Question Moving to Louisville..possibly.

My wife and I are thinking of applying for a job in Louisville. It would be at one of the local television stations(the NBC affiliate, I think). We are just under 30 and have no kids. We would like to live in the city. Perhaps a part of town with restaurants, bars, and shopping w/in walking distance. The less we have to drive the better. What parts of town fit this lifestyle? Does Louisville have a progressive nightlife? Dance clubs, hip hop shows(not radio rap trash), and so on... Are there any ethnic parts of town? Can you find Italian bakeries/delis? ...or any ethnic specialty stores? Is there any one thing about Louisville that locals love about it? Can you find houses to rent? If so, what price range. We currently live in Memphis, TN and rent the top half of a house that has 3 bedrooms, a living room, dining room, kitchen, bathroom, and a screened porch. We pay $675/mo. and about 150/mo. for utilities. Any info would be helpful.
Thanks in advance!
D

If you want a 5-6 room apartment or house for $675, move to Germantown or the lower Highlands.

Would you call these parts "safe"? What type of folks live in those areas?
Thanks,

All of Louisville is safe, with the exception of the Northwest End (Portland, Smoketown, etc.)
