We made an offer on a home with a Crestwood address, but it's in the Oldham County High School district. Can anyone tell me if this high school is also on the block schedule, as is South Oldham? I can't find it anywhere on their website. I'm concerned about some Math courses my son will need to double up on next year because of the difference in timing here. He won't be able to do that if they are not, so we will need to figure out something else.
Thanks,
Shan

I would call the school in the morning. Oldham County High is the flagship school of Oldham County. Many students are lucky to be part of one superior educational experience. It includes a very unique program where seniors are eligible to enroll in several colleges who hold classes right there on the OCHS campus.

There are 3 or 4 National Merit Scholarship Finalists there this year with several more notable mentions (there is a more formal name.)

Thanks, Tomocox. I tried to go for a visit this past Friday and I did visit South Oldham, but when I called Oldham, the bookkeeper said not to come because of the construction and she didn't know much about scheduling and no one else was there. I teach high school here and we're in the central time zone, so by the time I get home and can call, schools are closed there. So, if anyone on here knows the answer, I would appreciate the help. I really liked South Oldham, so I'm hoping OCHS is pretty much the same. My older two children were both National Merit Finalists, and I want to make sure this one has the same opportunity!

Without being certain so I didn't answer in the previous post, as I best remember, OCHS is on the block scheduling system. I know that the collegiate students have special schedules. I know that in special circumstances, the school board will make exceptions to which school a child is assigned. That might be another option for you as well. Oldham County Schools did not achieve its outstanding success by being arbitrary in making reasonable adjustments.

FYI: last week was Fall Break for Oldham County schools. When I saw Principal Devers at Rotary on Tuesday, he said that other than the contractors buzzing like bees, nearly all his staff was gone. You'll love the building! It's gonna be beautiful.

Thank you so much! You are very helpful. I read on a listing or somewhere that another high school would be built by the East Oldham Middle School. Is that correct, and if so, do you know when it would be built?

East Oldham is scheduled for 2012-14 at this time depending on population growth.
