I am not cut out for that kind of thing. I am not a thug. I am really a good person who just screwed up. I don't normally steal anything. I was just tempted by the rush of getting something free and it was a bad mistake on my part.
I don't think anybody thinks they are cut out for jail. You do the crime you do the time.

According to other boards you have posted on, this isn't your first time. You're willing to pay the fines and do community service. Just no jail. Sorry Charlie you don't get to decide what happenes to you. You're sorry you got caught. Unfortunately you'll probably get fines, community service, and probation.

I regret what I did, and I haven't done it but maybe a handful of times in my life, while I will never, ever do it again, as I am scared to death right now. I am not from Louisville, only moving here recently from a small town. I am not jail material. I would never make it. I am asking, have any of you ever been caught shoplifting, and if so, what was your punishment? What can I expect when I go to court for this? I am afraid of losing what job I have because I have a child on the way, and I want to be ready financially. I know I should have thougth about all this before I screwed up, but hind sight is twenty twenty.
I was 21 and was with a friend while he shoplifted, had no idea he did it as he walked away for a few but they accused me of "knowing" he was doing it and I got community service. He was under 18 (was 17 at the time) and no charges got filed on him and he didn't have to do any community service or anything. I also had a kid when this happened.

Being your first time you could get community service or a short span in jail.

He didn't tell the whole story on this board. According to other boards he has done this before. He has no qualms paying the fine, he just doesn't want to go to jail.

I've read the court news a lot (not much else worth reading in a weekly paper! lol) A lot of them get a suspended sentence and a couple years probation and can't go back to Walmart.

You will probably get community service and never get to shop at Walmart again. Can't you ask for a court appointed lawyer?
