Need advice on KY annulment/divorce
Hello all,
Unfortunately, I think I have come to the realization that I truly would be better off single. This saddens me, but it is what it is. I've only been married for 3 months, and from what I've read so far, I think I may have grounds for an annulment here. With that said, I have only lived here a year and a half and am not very familiar with lawyers in town. We have no assets to divide. It should be pretty simple. The only thing I have found online for an annulment is for a lawyer who charges a $250 consultation fee AND $250/hr, which I simply don't have. I know there have to be lawyers/paralegals in the area who can do it cheaper than that. Does anyone have an advice as to whom I should contact or where I should look? Or any info about doing it myself? Anything would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

The legal aid society has a do it yourself divorce packet. It's perfect for people with no kids, assetts to divide, or arguments to settle.

You can call Lawyer Referral System (583-1801) and get a half hour free consultation with an attorney, usually by phone. Also, my memory is that the court clerk will give you a free "do-it-yourself" packet for a simple divorce. It's a fill in the blanks kind of thing but with no assets to divide and no children, it should be fine for you.
An annulment is a little more tricky, however. You need to cite specific grounds and may need to hire an attorney to handle that.
Good luck!

Hello, I am a resident of KY. I have a pending Divorce. At this time there are no joint accounts, no other assets, and no children involved. I have seen the will, and I am the beneficiary of a condo it's furnishings. If the party leaving me the condo dies before my pending divorce is final and I sell the condo, will my spouse be entitled to any funds received from the sale ?

Please correct me if I am mistaken, but in KY, assets that are inheireted are not considered community property. (unless you do something to make it community property, such as putting those assets inside a joint account.)
You can get a free consultation with many family law attorneys here in KY. Just do a quick google search!

If you both agree to the divorce and can sit down and decide who gets what and who pays what, if there is anything to pay, you can do it yourself. Fill it out, you both sign it and take it to the courthouse. All it cost you is the filing fee. I think that's $75. Step son and his ex did this and another couple my wife knows did it.
