Default Is there a Louisville magazine that...

actually FEATURES areas in the South end? I was reading a couple of Louisville magazines and not a one had anything to do with the South end of Louisville, it was all areas west of 65 and within the Watterson and the East end including. Heck there was even mention of New Albany, what the heck? Yet another reason why south enders feel left out.

I've seen articles in there about Portland before, but it is a mostly East End focused magazine.

Then why call it Louisville magazine? Maybe they should call it Downtown/Clifton/Highlands/Frankfort ave/East end magazine, Last I checked, the south end is still in Louisville.

SW County/South End isnt quite as hip and upscale as what Louisville magazine is about. However they don't have to totally ignore the area.

One can see occasionaly features on the Memorial Forest, Farnsley/Moreman House, Iroqouis Amphitheatre and Iroquois Park, the Little Loomhouse (assume that is still open), things like that.

agreed. maybe the folks of SW county should boycott the junky chains that crowd the area and demand good, local, and somewhat more upscale shopping and restaurants. Until then, what would Louisville Magazine feature about PRP?? Valley? Maybe some of the homes up in the hills, and possibly some of the ethnic eateries and diverse neighboroods of the south end with immigrants, but again, Louisville magazine caters to the wealthy crowd, which is more scare (but exists) in SW County.

With regards to Beechmont, I always point people there. Its beautiful. However, even a small eclectic retail district like a mini Frankfort Ave or Bardstown Rd would do wonders for the area.

So just because we aren't "upscale" we don't deserve to be in a magazine called, well, "Louisville"? Why don't they call the magazine something else?

Well, write your congressman or something. Or take over the magazine and impose on them that they should now report on every area equally. Oh, and hire a PR unit to handle all of the emails you receive accusing the magazine and it's editors of being fascists. And apply for government aid money to make up for the lost sales as a result of losing the interest and accompanying support of your wealthy former demographic.

Until then, the area doesn't completely fit into the demographic to which that magazine caters. Notice I said "completely." There are so many great things to do all around the county, including the sound end. But, there are more great things FOR THE MAGAZINES AUDIENCE to do in other areas and those areas are going to command all the attention.

You know you could just start your own magazine or blog or website or something that focuses on great things to do in the south end of Louisville. Sell some advertising space on the site to businesses, hell, you might even make some money off of it. Take matters in to your own hands if you are so passionate about it! That's how stuff gets done.

I don't know the first thing about starting a magazine. I guess it is aggrivating that we in this part of town feel like the red headed step children of the city so much that even a magazine named after its own city tries to forget they are there Just out of curiousity, are you from here?
