It was in 1954. The KKK is current. I guess I am just suprised that certain areas gets singled out while others who have problems too are left alone. I also know that there is plenty of closet racism here in Louisville, they are just too polite (or cowardice) to say it out loud.

Racism is not a problem in Louisville compared to any other city I have lived. There are racist people all over the country. Why do you think EVERY city in America is segregated? Believe it or not, I have seen cities even more segregated than Louisville. However, I do not think racism is really a major issue in 2009. Yes, it exists in parts, but it is not a major worry.

Louisville isn't near as segregated as it used to be. Places that used to all white are not anymore. You used to see hardly a black person in parts of Shively, PRP or Valley Station but you do now and I don't see whites moving out in droves either. I am not saying it's bad, just there.

I think people have moderated their opinions on race. There are still a lot of negative stereotyping going on, but its not like that hard core racism of the past.

I agree but I think alot of it is the fact that we have been forced to co-exist through schools and now neighborhoods and are more understanding of each other.

well that wasn't my question; my question was about why bullitt county has that type of reputation. did it have to do with the historical development of the county maybe?

From the little bit I have found on the internet, Bullitt county was a hot bed of the KKK in the 70's.
