The best, worst counties around Louisville?
We can include Jefferson County in this, too. Let's try to keep it to no more than two counties away from Louisville, on either side of the river.
You can say what you like and what you don't like about the counties you've chosen.

My personal favorite is Hardin County. I really like Elizabethtown and Radcliff. Both have friendly folks and i love the military influence. It will be a welcome change from the DC area (via BRAC). The one thing i hate is that i may have a possible 40 mile commute to Louisville if i cant find a job in Elizabethtown or closeby.
One county i wont even consider is Bullitt County. It dont look pretty and has a reputation of meth and racism. Most of the DC area BRACcies wont even consider it because of its reputation.

You bring up some good points here, my friend.
My personal favorites in/around Louisville include, in no particular order: - Jefferson County, KY: Yes, as much as I have dogged Louisville, if I were to live or work in the Louisville area I would just as soon be in Jefferson County. You're closest to all the arts, cultural, recreational, and entertainment benefits that Louisville has to offer, and once property taxes and housing are factored it's not really any more expensive to live in *most* parts of JC than, say, Oldham, Shelby, Clark, and other immediately surrounding counties.
- Hardin County: agree with you, Alan, sans Radcliff; I think Radcliff is a dump. But I will concede that Elizabethtown is very nice.
- Oldham County: nice, clean, safe, with a well-educated populace, great public schools, and an easy hop to Cincinnati if you ever get the hunch.
- Harrison County, IN: I'm not much of a fan of the state of Indiana, but Corydon/Harrison County does seem like one place that is very nice. They are constructing a new hospital on I-64, Corydon is moderate in its growth (meaning it's growing but being controlled,) and it's at the tail end of the Hoosier National Forest.
- Franklin County, KY: Frankfort, even with all its political shenanigans (with it housing the state capital,) is a rather nice, historic community. I think it's a little bit too controlling about its growth, however; the upside is you still have close proximity to Lexington and Cincinnati.
My least favorite, in no particular order: - Bullitt County: okay, this would actually have to be first. In 2008, I had some Indian-American friends who live in Louisville that went to a dance party in Shepherdsville. As they were about to get back on I-65 to head home, they pull into a gas station, only to be confronted by some guy that tells them to "go the f**k back to Arabland" or some crap like that. IN 2008!!! And to think, BC has actually improved a lot in the last ten years.
- Nelson County: faux wealth abounding, a lot of rudeness and snobbery, just a general p*ssed off vibe that is rampant throughout town. If I want all that in a rural area, I'll go to central Florida or central Jersey. Don't like Bardstown, either.
- Spencer County: like Bullitt and Nelson Counties in a blender, except much smaller. At least the eastern half of the county has a lot of unspoiled and quiet beauty.
- Shelby County: used to be nice, but it has become an interesting mix of materialistic, snooty faux rich "east enders" and illegal Hispanic immigrants. Think I'll pass.

Ok, JCM I don't know about everybody else but I am sick to death of all your hateful, nasty, arrogant posts. I try to be a civil as I can be but how civil can you be to someone who is constantly bashing? Please, move as soon as you can and for the love of God learn to be happy!

Well, Missy, I wish I could agree with you in this case. The story I told about Bullitt County really is true; it is not fabricated at all. And my experience in Nelson County really is as outlined.
Can't accuse me of wearing rose-colored glasses, that's for sure.

Maybe I should have said it like this, why do you even start these threads? They are offensive and rude and all they do is make you look like you are nothing but negative. I wish we could see you another way but it is hard when the vast majority of your posts are that way.

Agree with MM
JC,
I have to agree with Missy on this one. Why not start your trolling post with all your comments that you make in your second post - you were the original poster?!?!?!?

Hey Missy...do yourself a favor. Don't ever venture outside of this forum. You will curl into the fetal position and wet yourself. What JCM posted was about as tame as it gets when it comes to criticism.

Dowdy you don't know me from Adam, I handle myself very well thank you very much.
JCM I am going to apologize to you though. It is not my place to tell you what to say or not and I hope you can forgive me for overstepping my bounds. Not that it's an excuse but I haven't been sleeping well lately and am a little testy.

I really believe that story about Bullitt County. Jcm, I know that your not exactly in love with Louisville and i commend you for trying to give fair observations (even though I don't think all of Radcliff is a dump). I can understand where Missy is coming from since she is a real KY belle.
