That's your loss. I have been to cities and rural areas all over the place. I am not rude or arrogant. I am suggesting you try to culture yourself a bit more, and I didn't mean to offend you . That said, you could have googled hookah and read about it. I am so used to seeing stuff like this I didn't know there were so many people that didn't know about it.
There is ZERO international culture in Taylorsville, KY. I have been there. Why you are not interested to come into a downtown of a city is beyond my belief, but is your choice, and I certainly see many others make it, especially in KY. Just curious, why don't you ever want to come to a downtown area? What is your definition of "downtown?" Also, despite your disdain for Louisville, do you realize you live in the Louisville Metro Area? I have seen and appreciate the beauty of Taylorsville Lake, although I would never live there. You don't have to live downtown; but it seems resonable to come into the city for art, museums, food, hospitals, culture, etc, etc.

You know, my old dad used to say:
"Now listen here little Girl from the country Wayne Johnson-Peters... In the country you got country stuff... In the city you got city stuff."

Not everybody wants to be more "cultured", not everyone wants the things you do.

Ok. You have your opinion and I have mine. Fair enough. But while you say you have seen the beauty of the lake but would never live here, I have seen the filth and crime of downtown Louisville and chose not to be around it. You say there is ZERO international culture in Taylorsville like that's a bad thing. I have no use for "international culture". That's part of the reason I live where I live.

It IS a bad thing. Your children will grow up with a fear of people of other cultures. We live in an international society; have you ever travled to the big coastal cities of the USA or abroad? Don't you want yourself and your children to be able to interact with all types of people in a global economy? You have not PERSONALLY witnessed filth and crime in downtown Louisville. Yes, cities have more crime that outlying areas, but it is not rampanat as you believe. Also, the West End is NOT downtown . Please, tell me of a crime you have personally witnessed in my neighborhood??? I am quite offended by your accusations. What you HAVE witnessed is people of other races than you in downtown Louisville. They dress diffferent and act different. They may even ask you for money. The majority of the time they don't want to hurt you! You are talking very bad about where I choose to live, and also the city at the heart of the region you live in.
I hate to say it, but the attitude of yourself and many others I see is what gives KY the stereotype that (maybe) it deserves.

Fair enough. But appreciating and not stereotyping other cultures is VERY important, especially for children today.

I do have to say to STX that you (in my opinion) tend to come on a bit strong and scare people away. Not everyone loves it here as much as you do, and I think your approach might be scaring away some potential posters. It feels like you bully anyone that doesn't agree with you and tell them that they must be either stupid or crazy to want to live anywhere else. Just my two cents there.
Also, my girlfriend and I went out to Karma (or 360 or whatever it's actually called) and we didn't find it to our liking. The place was very dirty and uncomfortably small and it stank of vomit and garbage, and most of the crowd seemed to be loud frat boy chuckleheads who were intent on making the staff miserable. The food was good, as was the Blue Moon on tap, but a homeless guy came in and started trying to sell us DVD's. The staff didn't seem to mind, and they acted like he was a regular. He was fairly insistent and honestly I just want to be left the hell alone when I'm out on the town. I doubt we'll be going back.
There's my other two cents, you've got four of my cents now.

Yeah and that includes the ones you moved into too You don't have to experience other cultures to not "sterotype" them. There are plenty of cultures I haven't and probably won't experience and quite frankly don't even think about.

On your first point, you are wrong, simply beacause you are attributing words to me that I never posted. Please find me where I called someone stupid or crazy for not liking Louisville? It is clear you don't like it, and that is ok, however, from your posts, it sounds like you are going out of your way NOT to like it. And that is ok if that is your choice, but if I was in a city I didn't like, I would probably try to make the best of it while I was putting together options to move ASAP. That's my four cents back to you.
With regards to Cafe 360 (which is very very different from Karma Cafe which is also open into the wee hours), you are correct, it is a bit dirty in an indie kind of way, but it is a very cool place IMO. Sorry you didn't like it, but there are about 2,300 (maybe more, I remember seeing that number in Velocity once) restaurants in the city that you can try and I think you may like some. What kind of eatery are you looking for? Are you aware of the other places that have international food with hookahs?

And that is exactly what I did and you got all bent out of shape. And don't tell me I still live in metro Louisville. Maybe in name only. My nickels worth.
