Tickets
I live in Lexington, but figured that someone in Louisville might have actually had this experience. I received a speeding ticket in Brown County, IN (just east of Bloomington) for going 55 in a 50 zone. Since I'm from out of state, do I get points on my license and why won't Indiana accept personal checks? Please advise. I'm somewhat annoyed with this right now...

These days with computers being connected between states, it may show up on your record in Ky but it's doubtful. Being only 5mph over is suspicious and normally reserved for 'school zone'. A lot of departments no longer take out-of-state checks so looks like cashiers' check is your next option.

Because it is 2009......and it is not Kentucky
True Story: My dad was driving along I-75 in Ohio a decade ago and was pulled over for speeding. Because he did not have a credit card to immediatly pay the fine, the trooper threatened to take him to jail. He told him because he had us kids, he would "be nice."

Actually some of these cops are just straight up . I've heard of Fairfax County, Virginia cops giving tickets for doing 58 in a 55. I've heard most cops only look for folks going at least 10 over the limit.

I've actually had that experience in Fairfax County. My mom got pulled over in a rental car while we were heading to DCA airport... 59 in a 55 zone. Plus I'm not thrilled about the $191.50 fine either...
