Question From GA to Louisville?

I applied for a position with my company in Louisville. I'm married with one small child (4). If considering housing in the greater Louisville area where should I look for 180,000 and under? What about snow? What's the deal in Louisville? Thanks so much for any info.

I can help, but you will need to be more specific. Your price point is above the median, so you can get a decent house, but of course it varies by location. Do you want a house, condo, or patio home? Do you like urban areas (that are safe) with older rehabbed homes, inner ring suburbs, or brand new suburbs a ways out? Or perhaps a town more own its own but close enough to downtown?

Looking for a house probably, it really just depends. Probably would like newer construction, but not too far away from town. (20 mins or less).
Also.....what's the local geography of Louisville? I know their are lakes...any hills?

lukedaddy, there arent that many large hills as in other parts of the state...i call it more "gently rolling" The east side has some very nice areas (I'm most familiar with that side of Louisville since I live near Lexington). You may want to look at Jeffersontown, or "J-town" as many call it. Some real nice homes in your price range with good school systems. Shopping/dining options are extensive along Hurstbourne

There are hills in and visible from Southwest Jefferson County and going into Hardin/Meade. There are some new neigborhoods being built around there and the price range is very reasonable.
