Default Monsour Builders

We're looking at a neighborhood with new homes being built by Monsour Builders in Buckner. Any opinions on Monsour?

Monsour has a good name. Both Monsour and Jagoe while competitors to Ball and Dominion seem to have better names. I would suspect part of this to be due to Monsour being a Louisville or local firm. Jagoe is based in Owensboro and I have been familiar with them since I was a child.

Be certain that with either to hire yourself a buyer-broker. Someone to serve as your advocate. Buying directly without a buy-broker makes you a customer without representation.

Run as fast as you possibly can from Monsour Builders. My husband and I built with them in 2006 at Arlington Meadows just past Long Run Road off of Shelbyville Road. We spent $250K+ on our home, and it was -- and still is -- a complete and utter disaster. In fact, we just turned over 3 years being in the home, and they've still YET to complete the original walk-thru punch list, let alone the one-year punchlist. Just a few months ago, they fired the warranty manager, most likely for not doing his job as there are MANY homeowners in the same position. BUT, they -- David Monsour, Mike Monsour, Gill Fuller -- also refuse to make the necessary repairs. Most of us have hired lawyers to do the fighting for us at a whopping $3-400 per hour. And most of us are just drained from the entire ordeal. They also recently laid off 80% of their entire staff. At last check, they had 3 -- count them, 3 -- houses under construction in all of Louisville. Sadly, David Monsour and his family were only interested in customer service when they were selling at the peak of the building boom. Now, they've destroyed their own name, and word is, the business is as good as gone. Apparently, at this point, they're literally hanging on for dear life. And all to save a few measely bucks. Oh, the horror stories. If only we could give back our house! They took our hard-earned money ... they just forgot to finish building the house. CROOKS! And they claim to be Christians ...

By the way ... we hired a Buyer's Agent for the very reason tomocox stated.

Still didn't help.

One iota.

Thank you for including my advice. I genuinely mean that. I can't comment on why the particular Realtor wasn't helpful to you, but I can tell you that people are hurt in car accidents wearing seat belts, but odds are better in their favor with the belt than without. Realtors are the seat belts all buyers should consider using.
