Default One-Year Wedding Anniversary in Louisville - Galt House

Hey everyone! My wife and I will be celebrating our one-year wedding anniversary in Louisville from August 8 to the 10th. We will be staying at the Galt House in one of their Executive Suites. They are having a special that weekend where you pay for a weekend night and get one free, plus you get free parking, breakfast buffet for two, as well as two free tickets to something on their list (Belle of Louisville, Louisville Science Center, Frazier History Museum?). Other than that, we plan on eating at The Spaghetti Factory, Clifton's Pizza, Henry's Ark, and going to 4th Street Live. From your all's experience staying at the Galt House, do you think that the Executive Suites are much nicer than the Deluxe Rooms? They said that it consists of an extra bedroom and it is 700 square feet compared to the Deluxe Rooms, which I believe are possibly 400 square feet. We really don't need the extra bedroom but was just wondering in general if it's a better choice since it is only $30 higher than the Deluxe Rooms. On Saturday, we will probably be doing Henry's Ark, a great Thai restaurant for lunch (have had Thai Taste and hated Thai Smile 5), and possibly 4th Street Live that night (maybe Hard Rock Cafe or TGI Friday's for drinks and food?). On Sunday, don't know what we are doing for lunch, this is the day we would probably do the attraction deal (Belle of Louisville, Louisville Science Center, or Frazier History Museum). For dinner we are doing the Spaghetti Factory and a carriage ride afterwards. Where is the best place to catch a romantic carriage ride and what is the usual cost? I know that outside of the Spaghetti Factory there are usually some available but didn't know if there are any more "romantic" ones or not. Is there anything big going on this weekend? Any plays/concerts/orchestras to go to? What would you recommend between the Belle of Louisville, Louisville Science Center, or Frazier History Museum? What would you recommend for a good lunch on Sunday? We aren't trying to spend too much money even though it is our 1 year anniversary. We are both college students and trying not to spend too much but want to experience all we can. On our trip back home Monday, we will do Clifton's. Or we could do Clifton's Saturday for lunch and do the Thai on Sunday.. hmmmm. Any help and inputs would be appreciated!

The chains and tourist stuff you are doing are great...but I think you are doing yourself a disservice by not eating at the city's unique restaurants and visiting its unique shops. What is your taste? I will post more later...

I would go to Lynn's Paradise Café for lunch on Sunday. They have the best breakfast and lunch and the atmosphere is very cool. It is by no means upscale or fancy so don't worry about being under-dressed. It is located at 984 Barret Ave. Here's their website... http://www.lynnsparadisecafe.com/index.html The carriage rides run around $20 for a 15 minute ride for 2 people. I would probably go to the Science Center or the Belle, the Science Center IMO is one of the best around and the IMAX theater is really cool. The Belle is fun and it gives you a great view of the city and the river, and they usually have a buffet you can buy during the cruise but it isn't the most exciting thing to do, but I would recommend going for a cruise on the Belle to anyone visiting the ville, its just one of those things you have to say you did when you came here to visit. It sounds like you all will have a lot of fun, 4th Street is really fun on the weekends, I would see who is at the Improv Comedy Club and try and go see them, its only like $25 and they usually have popular comedians.

Its the Spirit of Jefferson that shut down in Louisville. I don't think the Delta Queen runs any longer but that is in Cincinnati.
