Move from Michigan to Louisville
Hi, I really need your input/advice. My fiance may be relocating this month from Michigan to Louisville for work. He wants my input, but I need more information on the city...
He will be working for the University and I would need to find employment (I'm a CPA). Will I have difficulty?
I currently live in Auburn Hills, MI and would be willing to pay up to $1000 for a nice condo (at least 2 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, attached garage) in a safe and friendly neigborhood/subdivision. I like to live in the suburbs - good shopping, nice restaurants, safe neighborhoods for walks, health club, movie theaters, etc, but want to have access to city life (downtown, casinos, etc - I am currently about 30 miles from Detroit). Specific areas would be appreciated.
No kids. I have 2 small dogs so a nice, inexpensive vet is important. Any referrals?
One really important thing to me is insects/rodents. I know in some southern cities, certain types of bugs/rodents are common place. If someone could just give me some insight on this, that would be helpful. Specifically are there problems with roaches, bees, spiders, snakes?
Thanks so much!

Hopefully U of L will be back above water before you all move here....but if you want a nice suburban area near shopping and all that I would look anywhere on Hurstbourne Lane around Taylorsville Rd. and Shelbyville Rd. from Blankenbaker Pkwy to Hubbards Lane. There are many apartment and condo complexes in this area and they would be close to many many restaurants and shopping malls. Also, Champion Farms in Springhurst would be a good choice also, you would be walking distance from a movie theater, restaurants, Kohls, Meijer, Target, and many other stores.

mdawg gave you some good advice on livingk but left out the CPA thing and the buggy and vet thing.
Vets are not cheap if they are worth referring. I can only share that we like Buckner Animal Clinic & Countryside Animal Hospital. Any home you will live in will not be a bug problem complex. I haven't seen a snake in 5 years. If I had been looking, bet I would have though. Roaches, bees & spiders: normal to minimal.
CPA's are always in demand, just may not pay you the salaries right now that you might desire.

I use Pewee Valley Veterinary Center, and have used Anchorage Animal Hospital. Both are very professional and have a good reputation.

I moved from Michigan in November. So far, the pest issues seem to be about the same as Michigan was. I've got some mosquitos in the back yard, but no outrageous bugs, and no signs of the warm weather bugs from down south. I've seen one snake, but it was a small one, and harmless. I've heard that there are poisonous snakes around (more than in Michigan), but that they aren't generally a big concern near louisville.

This summer has been very cool so the bugs we normally have are pretty mild this year. That is the only plus I have seen for this weird weather lol

I moved here from Michigan a little over two months ago, and I've been very happy here so far.

Where did you live in Michigan? Does Lousiville remind you of any city in Michigan? Thanks

Did not live there, but the answer is no. The closest cities tio Michigan that reseble Louisville would be Columbus and perhaps Indianapolis. Grand Rapids could be similar to Louisville in some ways.
