Thanks anyway.
I have nice lunches at whole in the wall vietnames places like Pho 88 Annie Cafe and Vietnam Kitchen. Ditto for the excellent Bosnian food in Louisville at places like Al-Watan and Bosna-Mak.

But you want upscale...now you are being more clear. Tomocox mentioned Kunz's....how long has it been has he has been downtown for upscale lunch? Kunz's was off the local foodie radar when I arrived in Louisville nearly 5 years ago.

There are tons of places to go. I ditto the rec for Buck's. But you also have Z's Fusion, Vincenzo's, Limestone, Corbett's, and several others with a wonderful upscale lunch menu.

Given your criteria being close to the fairgrounds and upscale, I would choose either Z's Fusion or Proof on Main if you like upscale modern lunches and Buck's or Vincenzo's if you like more traditional and historic.

Please post with the experts on Commentary | LouisvilleHotBytes.com Few communities have such an active foodie online community.

Default Frank's

Before the original OP said upscale, Frank's Deli right on Preston is walking distance from the fair and they go overboard on every sandwich.

Just wanted to report back. I had lunch last week at the Cottage Inn and thoroughly enjoyed the fried okra and fried chicken livers. Yummmm! Not good for my arteries, but the taste buds were appreciative. I never would have known about Cottage Inn if it weren't for you kind folks. Unfortunately, my time was even more limited that I thought it would be.

Thanks to everyone for all your suggestions. I'll just have to come back to Louisville more often!

With my tongue in cheek.. I am so happy that it was me, yours truly, da man, and all those wonderful descriptive words that first mentioned the Cottage Inn. I am such a "man about town"

Now that all that choking bs is over. I am actually very happy that you not only had a good experience, but even thrilled that you reported back. Thank you for taking time to share.

Please come back for visits anytime you can. Be careful, be happy, and be you until then. God Bless Ya!

Since traveling to the Cottage Inn, it's only a another short hop to eat at Flabby's. Now that there is no smoking, this place is a time capsule of old-Louisville and a great place for lunch.
