My husband and I are thinking of relocating to Louisville. If you have moved from the Tampa/St. Pete area to Louisville, are you happy there?

I live in Orlando....getting ready to move to Dallas. I move alot for my job and have lived full time in 12 cities and part time in over 20. I lived several years in Louisville.

I can tell you without exception that Louisville is a hidden gem, and a much easier, laid back, cheaper, and friendlier environment than anything in Central Florida.

Thanks Peter! There are many things we love about Louisville, but I am a little concerned about the long span of cloudy days (November - April) after living in SUNNY Florida! We are expecting this to be our last move, as we are in our mid-40's now, so we just want to be sure of where we are going.

Florida winters ARE nice. It is about the only thing I liked about it. However, Louisville is definitely a great place to spend the rest of your life.

If for some reason Louisville gets hit with a few nasty winters in a row (and it does get pretty gray), thats when you save up and by the time you are 60 have money for a timeshare in CA or FL (or even think outside the box and go with New Mexico or Arizona) and spend December-Feb in the sun! Louisville is great the rest of the year, and as you will see, a very festive, livable, food oriented city with friendly people. Gone are the days of driving 45 min in traffic to get anywhere. 20 mins is considered "far" in Louisville, and it has everything you need in a "big" city with the exception of pro sports.

Oooh, perfect thread for me! I'm trying to decide whether to move to St. Pete area in Tampa or Louisville. The humidity is scaring me off of FL, plus the schools don't seem to up to par (granted my daughter is only 5, but still). I won't need employment, I work for myself, but can't decide which area is better. Does anyone have any pros and cons between the two?
