I am receiving a promotion and relocating to the Louisville area from Akron Ohio, working on Preston Highway near the fairgrounds. I am recently widowed, mid 50's, children are grown so I will be alone. Let me also mention, I lived for three months in the mid 90's off Newburg Rd in a mobile home park but that is the only area I really knew and it was okay at that time but I have heard to stay away from that area now. I am not afraid to drive any distance. Where is the best and most reasonable place to start looking for an apartment? It's just me and my cat. I also remember quite well that us "northerners" were not very welcome at that time. I had a lady outright tell me she didn't like me simply because I was from northern Ohio! But for the most part, everyone seemed friendly and very helpful.

You are in a good place. Radiating from your work place, you can chose the kind of neighborhood you wish. You can live in many good places such as PRP, the Highlands, Downtown, St. Matthews, even Bullitt, Oldham, Shelby, Spencer, or some So. Indiana Counties.

If you are renting, I would likely put you in a place such as Jamestown in St. Matthews, or several places in Middletown. If you want a really neat place to live, you might be surprised about Pewee Valley/Crestwood/Forest Springs. It's your call.
