Default Land information outside of the city help?

Hello all,
Can anyone direct me to online sources for land information? I'm looking for forums, official pages, whatever. I'm specifically looking for information about how well an area will produce food.
Thanks!

Depends on the type of food you plan to produce. Most of Oldham County is not suited for corn, beans, etc. It can and does produce excellent grass. Shelby County has some exceptionally fine soils and lands. Most of the quality soils of the Louisville Metro area will be found 20-30 miles north of Louisville in S. Indiana.
