I agree Slugger. Although it should be pointed out that Louisville, like almost every major city, is pretty segregated by race. There are even certain streets and railroad tracks that are known to mark the start of black or white neighborhoods. Still I would guess that there is probably less racial tension in Louisville than DC, where I know many whites are terrified of the city and vice versa.
Louisville's most racially diverse neighborhood is Old Louisville, parts of the South End around Beechmont, and parts of the Clifton Heights areas. I think Louisville is becoming a solid city for professional African Americans. For years, Louisville lost many of its educated African Americans to places like Atlanta (along with other mid sized southern cities), but that is slowly changing.
