Hello!

I recently got a job in Louisville which starts at the beginning of April. I'm living in Ann Arbor, Michigan right now, and the first time I'd been to KY at all was last Monday for my interview. I'll be asking my supervisor for housing tips, but this forum seemed like another great place to ask for advice on where to live.

-Where you are working: On Frankfort Ave., close to US-42

-How much you are willing to spend on housing: Looking to rent a 1 bedroom apartment, no more than around $515/month before utilities

-How long of a commute you're willing to tolerate: Not very long, preferably no longer than 20 min by bus. I'd like to avoid driving as much as possible.

-What type of neighborhood environment you are looking for: small town feeling? small city excitement? suburbia delight?: I've lived in Ann Arbor for about 5 years now, and I really like its small city feel. I like being able to walk or take a short bus ride anywhere I need to. I'm interested in more of an urban than suburban environment.

-Community amenities important to you: Library, parks, stores for basic amenities, farmer's markets, maybe a food co-op, movie theater, music venues, coffee shops...I'm into cooperatives in general, so opportunity for community involvement would be great. These aren't all totally necessary, just my ideal situation!

-Pie or cake? Cake!!

From looking at previous posts, it looks like the Highlands or Crescent Hill might be my best bet, but I thought I'd ask for input myself. Thanks in advance!

Yes, the Highlands, Crescent Hill, Clifton, and St. Matthews would all be good areas for you.

Do you want to live in a complex or a small multi-family dwelling like a duplex or fourplex? There are options for both in that price range.
