Mt. Washington is a very nice neighborhood as well is Oldham County. However, the commute may put you off a bit. Jeffersontown is a little more suburban and closer to the city, so you may look into that area as well. If you need any information I have a lot of relocation resources and information about the area. feel free to email me alyssonriffe@gmail.com

Mount Washington is excellent. I grew up in Louisville, now my kids are being raised in Mount Washington. The schools are excellent. Gas is always cheaper. When you drive up and down the streets most people waive. Low crime. You are about 20 minutes from Taylorsville Lake. In Louisville the east end is where most of your ritzy, high maintanance people live, not all, some people are very descent and don't worship the almighty dollar. Mount Washington is the east end of Bullit County, without all of the high maintanance. In M. Washington you can have several acres of land for about the same price as .3 acres elsewhere.
A few neighborhoods to look at would be Twelve Oaks, Equinox, Angels Crossing. There are some more but these are very nice.

There are many perks to living in Mt Washington. Walmart is 6 miles away, as is Kroger. Gas is cheaper here than Louisville also. Today is $3.08 6 miles down the road, and here in town its $2.84. I would never move back to Louisville.

I am a big fan of Mount Washington as well.
However, Mount Washington is apart of the Louisville MSA, so technically, you never moved OUT of Louisville.

Mount Washington is a town in Bullitt county. How many areas are in Louisville. My google hits on meth in Louisville were 482000. welcome to Kentucky, one of the top places for meth or pot. There are parts of Bullitt county that are not up to par, some are just old country farmers. Now lets go to Louisville where the majority of the sh-t takes place. Gangs, street violence, etc. This does not knock Louisville, the problem is, and its like this everywhere you go is perception. It only takes a few bad apples, thus the label is applied. Mount Washington is so nice because your far enough away from most of the crap. You can see more stars at night because of less city lights. Its quiet and peaceful at night most of the time.
I lived in Louisville for 25 years, best move I ever made.

Comparing Bullitt Co to Louisville is apples and oranges, comparing it to counties surrounding Lexington isn't.
Bullitt Co - 9.2% of residents have a college degree, overall CATS score is 76.4
Jessamine Co - 21.5% of residents have a college degree, overall CATS score is 81.5
Scott Co - 20.5% of residents have a college degree, overall CATS score is 85.7
