The all-time record for the number of days at or above 100 has already been broken, and we still have a month and a half of summer left. Also, our new 30 year averages have been calculated, with some large changes made apparent.

Quote:
Officially, the city has seen 30 days above 100 degrees this year, breaking the previous all-time record of 29 100-plus-degree days set in 1934, according to the National Weather Service in Lubbock.

Lubbock’s high Wednesday of 101 was set at 3:15 p.m. at Lubbock Preston Smith International Airport. The 100-degree tally was expected to climb, with a high of 100 forecast for today before temperatures are expected to temporarily cool down to the mid-to-upper 90s through the weekend. Highs of 100 or more were forecast to return Tuesday and Wednesday.

Tyler has done the same thing. And people complain about Houston's heat, LOL! Try living in Tyler!

Boy, I think folks down here in the Hill Country would be happy to only have 30 days as being the record. Last year we had 69 days at 100+ we look to be on track for more at 37 or 38 days so far this year.

I thought that was the year before. The year before I lived in SA and it was over 100 for 69 days in a row.

Until just recently just plain old swamp coolers were working well here around Lubbock keeping the inside temps 20 to 25 degrees below the outside temps. However, it seems that we must now be getting some humidity and the best efficiency I can now get is about a 10 degrees difference. Maybe the humidity will change to rain.

The National Weather Service released a long-range outlook yesterday that said the drought pattern will be holding until at least October. Someone told me that Wichita Falls has had 55 consecutive 100+ days. Anybody know if that's right?

Well our weathermen have been keeping track of it closely, so everyone in town knows. However, some good sources of official weather history are wunderground.com and weather.com.
