I consider Dr. James E. Sublette who was the father of Ned Sublette to be as famous to me as Ned. However Dr. Sublette (1928-2012) was born in Oklahoma as a descendant of the Huguenots who came to America in the 1700s.

Dr. Sublette was one of the world leaders in the taxonomic classification of Chironomids (midges) and was one of my professors of biology many years ago in eastern New Mexico. I don't recall ever meeting Ned or his brother Mark but it seems possible.

Mmm. Sorry for my digression.
