Ladies and Gents,

I am looking into a Field Specialist position with Schlumberger working on Electronic Submersible Pumps (ESP). I have several years experience as an aircraft mechanic in the Marine Corps, and hope to transition right into the job. I have found diagrams that outline the basic theory of operation for the pumps, but being the detailed thinker that I am I want to get down to the nitty gritty. However, there is sparse information online regarding the pumps or the life of a Field Specialist working on ESPs. Every forum that I read starts out addressing the nature of field work until an IT or Sales troll starts a convo on their life with the company. I do hear that it is tough work, but it doesn't sound like anything I haven't already dealt with as a Marine. I would like to know the day to day workings of a Field Specialist working especially with ESPs. What exactly does a Field Specialist do with the pumps? Is it remove and replace or is the pump torn down to the small component level onsite after troubleshooting steps have been exhausted? I would like to know as much as possible prior to taking the job, mostly because I like to be prepared. *** PLEASE DO NOT REPLY TO THIS THREAD IF YOU ARE NOT A FIELD SPECIALIST, ENGINEER, OR OTHER FIELD PERSONNEL (I.E. Information Technology/Sales/Human Resources)***
