It's going in at Slide and the North Loop. I'm a bit disappointed since I had heard rumors it would be downtown, but still, this will add some vibrancy and color to the northwest side which needs to happen. http://lubbockonline.com/business/20...square-lubbock

As someone on Raiderpower said, it should help with the city's reputation. Every development like this (e.g. Costco, the indoor sports place, and AD) helps in some way relieve the perception of isolation.

I'd also imagine that, since thousands of students live within 1.5 miles of Downtown, that a theater there would make a lot of sense.

I heard something recently about a new entertainment venue going in near downtown. Does anyone have any info on that?

Is there actually room for anything else at the Loop and Slide? I don't even recognize that area anymore. Our home was south of that intersection in the 1980s.

Well there's Whisperwood and the shopping center on inside the Loop, but nothing was developed outside because it was very inconvenient to get to that side of the road before Slide was extended under the freeway. There are several hundred acres of open land being developed, and it's being called Northpark.

This is yet another fine addition to a slowly burgeoning Northwest Lubbock corridor. Coupled with the impending expansion of the Loop at Erskine/Quaker, things out there are really starting to happen.
