It looks like the McDougal folks have done good on a plan which began fifteen years ago, and, despite a few hurdles, we are now seeing positive results from the redevelopment of the Overton Park District. You could say they've gone from dog poop to gold in a relatively short time.

Here's the link: McDougal Cos. commemorates 15th anniversary of Overton Park development | Lubbock Online | Lubbock Avalanche-Journal

Great for the immediate area and great for Lubbock overall.

I hope t all works out for Lubbock. That area was indeed in need of some sort of help.

The article's comments are interesting. I know nothing about the McDougals but it would appear that they have some real enemies.

Many people in Lubbock are so suspicious of anything to do with big money that they forget to acknowledge how great the results are. Lubbock is looking up, and part of that has to do with how much more vibrant the core is becoming around Overton Park.

I'll admit that I was skeptical when the plans for Overton were announced. But, wow, what an unbelievable transformation! I do not know the McDougal's, but I admire the vision it took to pull off such a massive project.
