We are possibly moving to Warner Robins to take a job at a local company there. We are wondering what are the schools like? the best places to live? Is there alot of crime there?

Warner Robins has fairly low crime that only seems to impact a small portion of the city. If you are interested in researching and moving to the best places to live in town, I doubt crime will ever be an issue for you. Most of the newer growth is on the south side of town, towards Hwy 96 and further south toward the Bonaire and Kathleen communities. This is also where the higher ranked school systems are located..... those that feed up to Houston County High and the newer Veterans High. However, the older schools in the northern parts of town are also not too bad. If you have kids, though, do keep in mind that Warner Robins likes to redistrict neighborhoods every few years or so. Your children may start in one system, move into another, and end up back in the original system before they are finished with school.
I don't have kids, but most people seem happy with the school system. I feel very safe here in Bonaire. It is a lot of subdivisions though. Maybe also check out Byron and Perry. Warner Robins is ok too though. Roads get kind of congested around here, but the people are friendly. I love it because it's not too big and not too small.
You can move to North Macon or So. Bibb County and have the same "suburban" environment thats in Warner Robins, so what's the difference? In Macon there are actual colleges, an actual downtown, a historic district, culture etc.
Culture in Warner Robins is going to best buy. Majority of the crime in Macon happens in neighborhoods nobody has to even spend much time in, especially at night.
North Warner Robins & The Northside High Area is getting just as bad as the part of South Macon city proper that it borders.
Yeah, I've never really understood this infactuation with Warner Robins that people seem to have. Better than Macon? Everything north of Watson Blvd. is just like the worst parts of Macon as far as I have seen. And North / West Macon is really beautiful and very upscale -- much more heavily wooded / hilly than all that gawd-awful tract housing built atop dead peach orchards all over Houston County.
Much of WR just looks like chaotic uncontrolled development with very little planning or zoning thought. Centerville is a mess. Trashy is the word that comes to mind.

WR and Houston County does remind you of some of the suburban sprawl that you see here in the Atlanta metro with less population density. From my observations as an outsider who has roots and business interests in the area, its kinda like the leadership is still trying to run WR and Houston County as if it's still a small town or rural county, even though Houston County has a population of roughly 150K.
Considering moving to Warner Robins area...my husband is probably going to take a job in Macon. However, I need to find employment. I have worked at a distribution center for 12 years and would really like to find a more 8or 9 to 5 type job. Am I going to have troubles? Would like to make a decent wage.

Atlanta is my home.I grew up most of my life in W.R.I was a teenager in my last year of high school at W.R. before finishing my senior year in Atlanta.
I have defended Macon repeatedly but have always been realistic. My parents have since moved back to Warner Robins in the last 3 years.I have said also that I could never move back to W.R.Its just too small.
I am a single male so W.R. just does not cut it.Macon is a better fit due to its downtown but the people are what makes a city.W.R. has the edge.
Not to mention there just not many people that even live downtown. As much as I like Downtown, they are giving away stuff practically to get people to live downtown.
Macon has been torn apart by racial politics.Dumb white people and dumb black people who are so selfish that they cant banned together until almost is lost to keep jobs from leaving as they have for years.
I know you don't really know Macon or W.R. well enough because you said W.R. bad area is worse than anything you've seen in Macon.
Firstly:There are simply NO areas in W.R. that the crime rivals or even comes close like it is in Macon'd worst areas.Areas like Fort Hill. Its not so much that crime exist in both but in Macon its no secret that there is a lot more violent crime. Not to mention gangs.
Too get an idea the difference in crime take a look at both cities in this interactive map of areas from dark blue(safest) to lighter blue being the worst crime areas.

It has a positivity of a can do attitude that I find somewhat lacking in Macon.
Yes it is a city of sprawl even as there have been on-going discussions of building a downtown center.
Almost everybody I grew up with were doing well financially. The standard of living and education levels are considerably higher in W.R.
Warner Robins has constantly been ranked by national magazines as one of the best small places to live.
There are houses in some neighborhoods now that rival some places in Atlanta's wealthy neighborhoods. The center of commerce has been leaving Macon for a long time.Warner Robins has benefited in addition to its pro business stance and good governance.
There is a real since of community there.
And yes the original part of the city after the War Dept created the Air Force Base and its old houses and buildings circa 1940-1950's style.Thats when the city was created. Its not an old city at all. Were talking 1940's.
Quote:
The base was originally an Army Air Corps repair depot named Wellston Army Air Corps Air Depot. When the U.S. Air Force was founded in 1947, the base was named Robins Air Force Base; the logistics headquarters was originally named the Warner Robins Air Materiel Area (WRAMA){Warner Robins Daily Sun 1987} and today is called the Warner Robins Air Logistics Center (WR-ALC). The base is the state's largest employer in one location; it has more than 25,000 personnel, mostly civil servants.
It is nicknamed the "International City" as numerous residents come into the area from around the world because of nearby Robins Air Force Base.
In fact, the International City Festival.

Around 25 instances of crime just since October 30th and today is November 1st
crime free WR!!!
WOW!!Dude you are too slick.I saw where you said incidents "of crime" but neglected to mention types of crime.
The fact that there are listed so many more arrest in W.R. than Macon, does not mean Warner Robins is more dangerous ,or even more crime,It just proves my early point about how visible the police are.Just because the police in Macon are not making as many arrest does NOT make it more safe.
Then you dont mention that an arrest could be something like public intoxication or jay-walking.But in the Macon map,it specifically has at least 6 incidents of shootings and somewhere around 5 robberies.
W.R.?There were NO shootings and one robbery!this is over a period of oNE month ago till today.
You are pandering. You know as well as I do how bad Macon's crime rate has affected one of the main reasons populations decline in cities:CRIME.
W.R. is by know means crime free. However I can tell you that they pretty much have a zero tolerance policy for crime.
