Well there's two choices. Lizella or Northside, if not you're gonna be living somewhere with consistent crime.

Hartley Bridge/Rutland area in South Bibb does not have much crime.
I live on the far, far eastside of the city limits right along the Bibb County/Jones County border and it's safe. Though there is crime further down Shurling Dr. in the Ft Hill neighbor, most of the rest of East Macon is not dangerous, but we will get falsely labeled for reasons.

Yea hartley bridge is reat. Although I hate houston road too, filled with poor trailer parks.
East Macon is very bad. You live on the outskirts though.

All bad places in Macon are nameable and well known.

Houston Ave
Pio Ono Ave
Broadway
Gray Highway
Bloomfield
Bellevue
Shurlington Dr
Fort Hill Area
Millerfield Road
All of Central Macon
Hardeman Ave

Anything else is good or alright

Most of that is true, but not quite 100% regarding East Macon. This is what I meant by falsely labeled.

Shurling Dr. runs all the way down to the Jones County line right around Joycliff Rd, Lake Arrowhead, and Belvedere Manor. Those neighborhoods are not bad. Drive a little further down. The neighborhood across the street from Shurlington Plaza (Walnut Creek Rd, Alandale Dr (where Walter P Jones Elementary school is) this area is not bad at all. As you drive down Shurling Dr. toward Gray Highway it gets worse.

Once you get beyond Appling Middle School, from there to the Shurling/Gray intersection, is the Ft Hill neighborhood and yes that is ghetto.

On Gray Highway, once you make your way pass Wal-Mart headed toward Jones County, it's not bad either. It's once you reach Wal-Mart and head towards downtown, McDonalds, I-75 that it gets bad. Again, that's because it's Ft. Hill.

As bad as Northeast High School is, it's biggest problem is Hoodlums from Ft. Hill. The actual street Northeast is on (Upper River Rd.) is not bad until you get near the end of it (right around where you pass the back entrance to Burger King is a "rough spot" there). There's a neighborhood across the street from Northeast called Wood Valley and its safe. Remember Behind Kroger you have Shirley Hills which also is not bad.

East Macon's bad/crime ridden neighborhood is Ft Hill. The rest of East Macon is MAJORITY decent neighborhoods, with a couple of other roads that may have a section of it that looks rundown (Millerfield Rd, as you mentioned). Even then, the areas like Millerfield Rd and Ft Hill, while not desirable, dont even have close to the crime problem as Houston Ave, Second St, Broadway. It's a different ball game over there.

Overall East Macon is not that bad.

Also, as you travel down New Clinton Road where Jones and Bibb Border, there's a "Macon, GA" addressed Middle School called "Clifton Ridge" which is barely across the Jones County line. There's even a sub-division out that way with the same name "Clifton Ridge." All of that is still East Macon.

I don't know if anyone can pull up the stats or if there's a place to do so, but I'd bet 75-80% of Macon's crime occur on Mercer Univ Dr, Pio Nono, Second St, Broadway, Houston Ave and the neighborhoods off of those roads.

^^^Yeah. There are nice places in east macon but the percentage bad to good still favors the bad side. Although there's nice subdivision right down on Shurlington.

The problem with central and south macon is that it's "visibly" horrible. I mean, I couldn't imagine those areas being any better considering how macon is constructed. Basically macon has very long strips of bad areas while the nice areas are far off. Most of the main road consists of the getto while the unused road have the nicer areas. Houston ave is bad but not towards 247, there are some reasonably okay houses on houston ave even though it's filled with hoodlums.

When you mention Broadway do you mean the Peach Orchards or near downtown? Yeah the others are bad, but it's not the people's fault more of how the city was made. Too many housing projects in central and south macon. There are like 5-10 different housing projects right down from each other. Hartely Bridge is great but a small-medium sized area.

I try to avoid that way, I would not be over there after dark. I'm especially talking about the area near Pendleton Homes on Houston Ave. That and 2nd Street are the worst parts of Macon to me.
