At least attempt to know what you're talking about. If you want to talk about safety at the mall, it was much worse around 1998-2004. That was around the time the movie theater was across the parking lot. That's when teenagers, gangs and all sorts of trouble makers roamed the mall freely and the parking lot all the way from the food court entrance across to the movie theater. YEARS AGO (like 6 or 7 by now) Mall Security/Police started checking for IDs at the down stairs food court entrance and they'd tell groups of teen to "keep it moving or leave" if they were standing around. Since those days, you rarely see many groups of teens or gangs out there because authority/security were giving them much more attention and less freedom. It's not factual to suggest there has been a steady build up "problems because of thugs" at the mall over the years because it used to be MUCH worse (from a safety standpoint). The mall used to look like a "ghetto club" from about 7 PM umtil about 30 mins after closing when people finally left the parking lot. Those days have been long gone. C'mon.

BTW, love the exaggerations. While Chattanooga is a larger City/Metro than Macon with more to offer, when it comes to crime/safety, how is it someone could say Macon is so horrible but Chattanooga is so great? They have a much higher than average crime rate and gang problem too. Providence, RI is far from a "utopia" in that area as well.

If I called police in Macon, they at least respond to a report of crime. But the plan to combine city and county police departments in Bibb county to save money will reduce police presence. Even if police hired(unlikely), crime won't go down.

Although I personally would not use the word 'great' to describe Chattanooga, I would use 'safer' compared to Macon. Despite being nearly double the size of Macon, Chattanooga had fewer murders last year than Macon. Not percentages but raw numbers. That is flat out scary in my book.

'Great' would not have been my choice of words in describing Chattanooga for sure. But I am determined to use the word 'great' and Macon in the same sentence so here goes ...
If you want to live in a place where you are more likely to get murdered than say, oh, Chattanooga, Macon is a 'great' choice.
