Another Macon Malfunction (Perry, Washington: university, salaries, centers)

Reguardless of the feeble attempts of some to portray Macon as a decent place and the multiple posts praising the Medical Center, a man got upset after waiting 9 HOURS at the emergency room and rammed his truck in the side of the building!!! Then, on the news, they said there was a shortage of over 700 doctors for the hospital. Pathetic. Simply pathetic.

thanks Peelo for the post!! i have had family members cared for at the Medical Center. It is indeed the best place to receive services if you suffer from heart problems (as opposed to the Houston Medical Center OR Perry Hospital)... As so, the Coliseum is the hospital who is considered to have the best physical therapy program... Macon has definately descended into a downward spiral over the past ummm, 10+? years!! While i could go on and on about Macon, from the news story; the residents ARE the reason for the city's rapid decline....

The Medical Center of Central Georgia is one of four Trauma 1 Emergency centers, its also one of the greatest heath facilities not only in Georgia but the World. It has new technology that Georgia has never seen, a heart treatment center that will be one of the most advanced in the world, its also tops the list of being one of Georgia's largest employer, employing people from as far out as Washington County which is an hour away, and many of the people agree its a great place to work at. The Medical Center of Central Georgia also pays some of the greatest salaries in the state of Georgia. I could go on and on about the Medical Center without even speaking of Macon, which shows its important to this region, better yet this state. Waiting in line in the emergency room is not only a Macon problem its a nationwide problem as you said their are a shortage of doctors, and the man we call president is not doing of good job of providing healthcare which is another problem hospitals the size of the Medical Center of Central Georgia. Combined with Mercer University these two great sources of Macon's fame are an unstoppable force. Both have great investment in the Macon, and CENTRAL GEORGIA.

The Med Center will need 700 MORE doctors by 2012, not today, given expected growth. It is a shortage nation wide, not just Macon. Who would want to choose a career that may have your pay cut through socialized medicine.

BTW - why not mention the new plant opening in Macon? Adding jobs to the community.
