Riddle is the founder and lead designer of Rosser Riddle of New York City. He had designed shirts in honor of Otis Redding and other iconic musicians and their lyrics and sold them in a pop-up store at 368 Second St. from Nov. 29 to Dec. 23.
But now he’s found a new home. His products can be found at 533 Cherry St. on the first floor of The Creek FM radio station, according to a release. It is open 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Tuesday-Saturday.

“Macon has embraced my product and me,” Riddle said in the statement.
One of his newest designs on T-shirts and sweatshirts features “478,” representing Macon’s area code as “an ode to Macon.” Officially licensed legacies include Otis Redding, Sam Cooke, James Brown and Isaac Hayes.

New downtown parking decks could stimulate development

A large-scale downtown Macon development could gain some momentum Tuesday.

A Macon-Bibb County Commission resolution would allow the Urban Development Authority to possibly issue up to $20 million in bonds for parking decks that would tie into a proposed $50 million development. Along with the parking decks, the Exchange Block Project calls for a brand name hotel, boutique hotel, retail space, multi-family housing and offices along two downtown blocks.

The resolution would give the Urban Development Authority control of the properties at 674 Poplar St. and behind the Macon-Bibb County Government Center where the decks would be built. The authority would also seek to enter into an agreement with the Bibb County Board of Education so that payment in lieu of taxes, or PILOT, could be used to pay for the bonds.

I agree.... I can't wait to see how this will take shape and what's to come.. I think this project is going to have the same effect on Downtown as Bass Pro did in North Macon/Bibb Co.

It's really interesting how DT has Taken off in recent years and its no way anyone can say Downtown Macon isn't growing and on the come up. Have been wondering the latest updates on Macon's DT High rise hotel renovations though. Has anyone heard anything? Would love to see that project completed and to be honest it should be a Mix of condos and a Hotel instead of just being a Hotel which may have mentioned.

They’re trying to organize the business improvement district.

“Oh, definitely worth it,” said owner of Travis Jean Emporium Jean Bragg.

Downtown Macon is growing, and so are its needs.

“It’s a small amount of money that can make a huge difference in making downtown Macon more safe, more clean,” said Bragg.

Bragg’s shop is on Cherry Street, and she’s a big fan of a new idea–the Business Improvement District.

“It’s a win-win situation for not only those of us who have a place of business and who live here but also visitors,” said Bragg.

Newtown Macon is organizing a way for businesses to pool their money and hire safety ambassadors and a clean-up crew for the area.

“Just to have a ranger or an ambassador walking around giving instructions to new visitors coming to Macon as to how to find specific places,” said Bragg.

It’s something that wouldn’t be attached to the county budget–business owners commit to pay a five mil tax, or 200 dollars of every 100 thousand dollars of property they own.

That is good and well, but they need to plan a way to buy the Dempsey when it's lease comes up for renewal in 2027. That is a grand redevelopment opportunity.

FIRST LOOK: See plans for major Poplar Street development in downtown Macon
FIRST LOOK: See plans for major Poplar Street development in downtown Macon | 13wmaz.com

Developers say they are in the final process of securing a major brand hotel to be built on Poplar Street.

This comes after the Bibb commission approved the Urban Development Authority to take out bonds to build two parking decks downtown.

Our Mary Grace Shaw met with the developers and took a tour of the future project.

Parking, living, office and retail space are all coming to Poplar Street and DT Walton Senior Way as a part of a $60 million development called Central City Commons.

“In two years, this entire view will look completely different,” said development manager Miller Heath.

In the last two months, Heath says they have secured a major brand hotel to be built.

“Walking up the hill on Poplar, you would see a large six-story hotel on the left hand side,” said Heath.

The 120-room hotel will have a bar and meeting space, but just up the street Heath says they are also planning several renovations to the old Newman building.
