This is perfect reason why Macon and Warner Robins should not be considered as 2 separate metros. I hope this is first stride before many to bring the area closer together regionally. Great Job!!!!
Despite what the government says, Macon-Warner Robins has always been one metro area and will always be one metro area. The only people who ever thought otherwise were narrow-minded Houston County politicians and Chamben or Commerce geeks who wanted to distance themselves from Bibb County for racial reasons.
If the absurdity of downtown Macon and City Center Warner Robins only being 19 miles apart weren't enough, how about this: Warner Robins has no major media! The Telegraph is as much Warner Robins newspaper as it is Macon's, and all the Macon TV stations cover Houston county and Bibb County 50/50.
Transit is only providing services from the Air Force Base to Macon. Not everyone reside or can get on post! It doesn't matter to me cause I have transportation tho
Houston county prefers to stay separate from Macon

This has been the case for the past few years with the BIRD buses, but this news release is different. Now there will be transportation from WR at a park n ride on Elberta to the major employers in Macon such as Geico and YKK. That is a big change.

True, which is mind boggling anyway. No matter how anyone slices it or who's in the majority, both Houston and Bibb are very white/black places with large numbers of both. Races in Houston County, Georgia: White Non-Hispanic Alone (60.5%) Black Non-Hispanic Alone (28.3%) Hispanic or Latino (6.1%) Asian alone (2.4%) Two or more races (2.2%) Races in Bibb County, Georgia: Black Non-Hispanic Alone (51.9%) White Non-Hispanic Alone (42.1%) Hispanic or Latino (2.8%) Asian alone (1.6%) Two or more races (1.2%)

And much closer than that at different points in each city.

The whole "big, bad Macon" and "perfect little Warner Robins" stuff is blown out of proportion. Warner Robins lacks things Macon has to offer such as an actual downtown, historic district, college hill corridor, etc. Also many parts of Warner Robin's Northside looks as depressing as the Eisenhower/Pio Nono intersection area in Macon. Both Bibb and Houston have plenty of "suburbia" scattered around each county.

Agreed. I never understood why Warner Robins was put up on such a high pedestal when it is just one big overgrown suburb gone wild.
Glad to see more connections between the two cities.
