Today I spent half the day at Smiley's flee market. Billed as the largest flee market in Georgia... I can believe it and I saw tags from New York, Virginia, New Mexico and all over Georgia to say the least. The place was packed and I spent over 3 hundred and didn't even go out for shopping. Great deals that I just had to fall for. Just saying though, Macon has some wonderful venues.
I'm so confused as to why do some people in Georgia that live outside of Macon AND Atlanta have such a distaste for Macon?
Perhaps it is not Macon at all. Maybe it is the people who defend Her with logic like this

What a ridiculous statement.
I hate to be the one to let you in on this ... but making the place bigger will only add to the crime statistics. That's right, there will be more incidents of crime than ever before. The per capita numbers will go down, but there will be more crime reported in Macon 'proper' than at any other time in history. EVER. The only chance the crime numbers will go down is if the citizens just stop reporting crime out of frustration, or worse, apathy.

This applies all over. Places like Nashville, Jacksonville, and Houston that have enormous city proper boundaries would statistically have less raw crimes but a much higher crime rate if their city proper didnt extend out so far. To the contrary, St. Louis would have a much lower crime rate but more total raw crimes if it annexed surrounding areas. That's how per capita works

Out of Georgia's larger counties outside of Metro ATL, it looks like most have similar crime problems, so it's pretty absurd for people like Bulldawgfan to pretend Macon is in some world of its own when it comes to crime.

brenty,
I am not so sure you understand total crime numbers and 'per capita' as well as you think. Lets go back to 2013 when Macon had a city-data crime rating over 600, when the national average was less than 300. 18 murders reported that year. In that same year Atlanta had a city-data crime rating over 600 also. There were 84 murders reported that year in the ATL.
Tell my brenty, where were there more murders during that year ... Atlanta or Macon? 84>18.
Looking at the per capita numbers, where were you more likely to get murdered, Atlanta or Macon?
You had to see this coming ...
Yes, as bad as some say the crime is in Atlanta, you were more likely to get murdered in Macon Georgia than in Atlanta in 2013.
When Macon incorporated the outer, already safer and less crime ridden areas, the crime numbers did not go down. http://http://wgxa.tv/news/local/bib...e-that-of-2014
28 murders reported in the county during 2015. 18 reported in the city during 2013.
Does that seem like less crime to you? Are you saying that 28 murders is A-OK now, simply because we surrounded those crimes with more people?

Crime rate fluctuates in all these places from year to year. Just to show how embarrassing your trolling and bashing attempts are, how is it that you mention info from as old as 2013 and post an article showing an increase in crime from 2014 to 2015, but you just so happened to conveniently ignore a more recent article that mentions a decrease in crime from 2015 to 2016?
Lets not mention a more recent article because it goes against your argument? lol Pathetic.
I see you also had no reply for the other post that shows Bibb County's crime rate is right on par with the other larger counties in the state, even lower than some.
Whether you like Macon or not is your own personal opinion, but pretending the crime in Macon is so much worse than other places in GA simply isn't true. Richmond and Dougherty have higher crime rates. Muscogee and Clarke are similar.
You fail.
