I'm sure that the gathering is only open to church members because of security and capacity reasons. This is not uncommon.

I can't wait to see the pix. Have a great time!

sorry you feel that I am rude. You were the one who called my pastor a crook. You were also the one who brought up where he ate and shopped and slept. I was only stating facts from a trip I was on and was confronting you for slandering a man you dont know.

Cool Obama controversy

This is my opinion from a blog at another site

For those of you that don't know, Barack Obama will be at Harvest Cathedral (where I am a member) this Sunday morning at 11am. As I look at announcements and comments on the internet and talk to friends about this there seems to be quite a bit of controversy surrounding this visit. I have seen some automatically attack Harvest Cathedral and Pastor Steve for allowing this to happen, so I have been turning this over in my mind about what is proper or not about it.

It seems to me that all should be allowed to attend Church, who are we to turn people away? Besides, there is nothing he can say that could convince me to vote for him or any other democrat running for President.

I hear that he will give his testimony - that could be interesting if he is forthcoming and honest about his Christian testimony. There are many accusations of his being a Muslim. His father was a Muslim and Obama's middle name is Hussein, but that doesn't mean that he could not have had a salvation experience. If he is really a Christian and not just confessing to be one then it would really be interesting to hear his journey of how he got there. If he is there to give a campaign speech instead of a testimony (as advertised) then I am not interested.

The fact he is there and will be staying for the service presents some interesting opportunities:

1 - If the salvation experience he has had is not genuine then it is a great time for him to hear a gospel presentation that might just might stick, if not at least plant a seed or continue watering an existing seed.

2 - Harvest Cathedral is a racially and culturally diverse Church. This is a good time for him to see races worship together rather than being racially seperatist as his Pastor is.

3 - Maybe he will hear something that will convict him of some of his views such as abortion.

Another point is that his visit will generate attendance by media and other visitors that may not otherwise attend a church and these people get to hear a gospel presentation.

As far as the attacks on Harvest and Pastor Steve I have seen on news story comments and other internet forums - most of them seem to be knee jerk uninformed reactions to something they don't like. If they appeared to be informed at all it might be worth debating them. But a word to them - God has often been known to do things that might seem foolish to some as God turns the situation around to serve His purpose. And my God is big enough to make it work out.

One last thought - what if (even as much as I don't like the thought), Barack Obama becomes the next President of the United States. And what if God "moves" in this service, and not just this "I feel the presence of God" move, but knocking down people, convicting them of their sin so hard they try to hide under the chairs and the carpet move of God. What if the outrage was not allowing him to attend?

You are correct Deev... I dont know him. I did come across rather harsh concerning what I was told, and that was wrong. I`m not one to usually jump to conclusions about people and honestly, the comment was more aimed at getting under M.O.M. skin than saying something about Harvest Cathedral or Mr. Sawyer. Mayors reaction always gives me a chuckle (that anyone can get so upset over talking about a city-and another persons view of that city at that) so I apologize if I offended you or Mr. Sawyer.

I do however understand the "few invited" situation there. There will be seating restraints and I do feel that the congregation of that church should witness this, if they should choose to do so, and the members should be first to get seats. Thats my opinion anyway.
Like I said, he does have some good ideas on preserving the middle class, his policy on Iraq sux, and I havent heard of him really tackling the HUGE problem of Medicare or Social Security, even those these 2 create the greatest issues we will ever face as a country.

Well if you were looking to get under my skin you should have attacked me, not my church nor my pastor. Your very disrespectful, and I could care less what you think of Macon, everyday there are 90,000 people that decide to continue to live here. Also I could understand why you dont go to church, as you think your God yourself. Newsflash your not.

Exclamation Video of Barack Obama Visit

Along with pictures I will try to post a video, but this site has a limit on the size of the video, so it will have to be broken down into parts, which will take awhile, I will no post the parts one at a time, but in a formal fashion at once, check back often following 3 P.M. for video. However you can expect pictures immediately at 3 P.M. as I dont live to far from Harvest Cathedral, and I can take the pictures directly from the camera to the computer.

The ceremony is only open to members of the church and invited guest. However being the civil man I am, I will take as much photos as possible. You can find the images on here around 3 P.M. Sunday January 27, 2008. Keep in tune for more information. Also expect news from Hilary Clinton to speak in Macon, eventhough her husband was here this past wednesday, as the Georgia primaries near closer, and candidates try to make there impression on Macon and the rest of Middle Georgia.

Dont expect much from Hilary as many states such as Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas ,California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Idaho, Kansas, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Tennessee, & Utah will all be voting on what is called Super Tuesday where as much as 25 states decide there candidates. Expect Hilary to campaign major in New York, Hilary's homestate, and Illinois, Barack's homestate, both which will be apart of theSuper Tuesday voting states. So in otherwords dont expect her to come to Macon as I said earlier.

Why would she come to Macon? All the blacks are voting for Obama and Macon is mostly black.. why waste your time in a place you have no chance of winning in? Obama won 80% of the black vote in SC... over half of the dem primary voters in SC are black.. but over 75% of white voters voted for Hillary or Edwards.. Obama will do well in black belt states like Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, and Louisiana.. but will have a hard time in most of the other statesd where the black vote is not as significant.. but hey I guess you guys in Macon will get to see Usher, Chris Rock, and Dave Chapelle.

Default My 2 cents

I will soon be a resident of your (obviously) very competitive and opinionated area. Until now, I have read your posts and attacks with a light hearted approach, I find it interesting that you all are so passionate and quick to insult. I must admit, I look for (tiny) bits of unbiased truth in your posts so that I can choose carefully where I want to live. My kids are my main concern, but as a WHITE woman, I find it insulting that you have now used this sight to spin Barack Obama's campaign along racial and gender lines. According you your logic, I should be voting for a white candidate, or for a woman. Your biases do not apply to me, and I think that you will be surprised to find that they do not apply to a lot of Americans. The black vote in this country is not insignificant..contrary to what camp Hillary and/or the Republican right might need to tell themselves in order to discredit Obama's huge popularity. Right winged conservative views haven't helped you much in the last 8 years, you might want to be a little open minded to change.

Exclamation Overview from Barack Obama's Visit to Macon! Part 1

I would say Barack Obama's Visit to Macon, Georgia was a great one, he spoke about racial equality, healthcare, and told a story of a young lady who's mother died. He also told about being a Chrisitan growing up on Chicago's South Side. But the main part of the story is the amount of people that packed the building to see the man who could possibly be the next president of the United States.

Member or non-member, everyone who came was allowed into the building, Atlanta Channel 2, CNN Live, CBS News, WMGT Macon, WMAZ Macon, ABC Macon News, Macon.com, and many other news organizations was there including Central, & Southwest High Press. They all formed a 50 member press, both traveling, local, and beyond.

Newly Elected Mayor Robert Reichert, Representative many local educators and principal, Congressman Sanford Bishop of Albany Democrat, and Rev. Joseph Lowery of Southern Christian Leadership Conference.

Images will be provided earlier than expected. I will begin posting images at the top of the hour.
