wow
Ouch! These are some nasty details which I've never heard. Looks like the Republicans have really run out of fiscally conservative candidates (except perhaps Ron Paul).
Why is the well so dry in both parties?

Mike Huckabee has no chance of winning the nomination.. He will probably win Georgia (that just shows you how out of touch with reality Georgia is)... but McCain will win the nomination.. Huckabee is just staying in to siphon votes away from Romney.... they all hate Romney.. Huckabee is positioning for the VP spot.

I think this guy alone will cause him to win...
NOT
This will be my ONLY political statement in here this month about Huckabee, but folks need to remember, he's a Baptist preacher. Now, that may be considered a "plus" here in the South, but the United States isn't just composed of the South. Read around on the political boards and you'll find that there is basically no way that voters in other areas are going to vote for a Baptist preacher for President of the United States. If he by some odd luck of the draw DID make it to the final race, then it pretty much won't matter who the Democratic runner is - they will win.
I think that anyone else who might get in will think twice before picking him as a Vice President running mate as well for the same reasons. The South is well known for mixing religion and politics and it's considered normal in most places here, even today - in the rest of the country it's not, and there are many areas, and many voters, who are turned off by it, or just flat-out frightened about letting someone of any particular denomination who speaks up about it so openly get into a position of power like that. Heck even here I work with a couple of what you'd call "moderate Baptists" and they said they wouldn't vote for him for these reasons. So I don't think he's gonna make it.

Atlanta greg,
I ABSOLUTELY agree with you that Huckabee has NO chance of getting the nomination. I also agree that a lot of people are put off by the idea of a Baptist ministe (or any minister) for President or Vice President.
That said, I personally know people who NOW like the guy and think he has some pretty sharp ideas. These are people who have gotten to know Huckabee from debates and while they say they won't vote for Huckabee (of course a MAJOR point) are no longer put off by the idea of a Baptist minister for President or V.P.
Personally I think that Huckabee's strengths (which I feel COULD help unite the country) include:
1. his frequent statements urging respect for people who don't believe in God, including comments that just because people don't believe in God doesn't mean they don't have VALUES.
2. in talking about sanctity of life, citing many examples of HOW Americans DO respect the life of individuals (i.e., IMHO putting a fresh and interesting slant on the "Right to Life" which so deeply divides the country).
3. Ideas for economic stimulus which are different from the "pack" of those running
and (4) a great sense of humor.
Added to that is the thrilling idea that, should Huckabee do the impossible and gain the Presidency, of his inviting French officials over to the White House to demonstrate how he cooks squirrels in his corn popper!
IMHO by staying in the race, Huckabee is tilting the race towards McCain. While McCain supporters probably love Huckabee staying in the race, there are those of us who see McCain as author of the McCain-Kennedy bill which would cost the country TRILLONS of dollars, not to mention putting a price on American citizenship.
Frankly, I've watched McCain closely throughout the race and believe that he is SEVERELY cognitively impaired. Not a joke.
Tomorrow will undoubtedly prove to be a VERY interesting day for the country.

If a man like Huckabee could end up in the White House, I need to start making plans to leave the country.
