Warner Robins Development Authority wants to urbanize (lofts, employment)

Vice-chair Tim Thomas said it’s been a long wait to get a development authority in Warner Robins. He’s ready to pursue creating a downtown scene in the tax allocation district that runs from Community Circle to Watson Blvd. and Armed Forces Blvd.

“We want to have mixed use down here; lofts, offices and retail,” Thomas said. “In five years I’d like to see us have a true downtown, maybe not completed but we’re gonna see the start of that.”
Sonya Jenkins, the development authority chair, says there’s a lot of thing that the nine-member board can do for the city, one of which is increasing employment.

“Trade, commerce, and there may already be existing employment opportunities that just need a shot in the arm,” Jenkins said. “Economic development takes on several different faces and our priority is to hit the ground running on those spaces that will give us the quickest return on getting some things done.”
