Shoppes at River Crossing retailers say stores are faring well

Bibb County's newest major shopping center is faring pretty well despite a shaky national economy, retailers say.

Six months ago, The Shoppes at River Crossing held its grand opening with a four-day celebration. More than 40 stores are open now, with several other retailers getting their business in order to open in time for the Christmas season. Some new restaurants are planning openings in the coming months.

Macon City Council OKs step toward I-75/16 DT interchange plan
Macon City Council OKs step toward interchange plan - Local & State - Macon (http://www.macon.com/198/story/478936.html - broken link)

what the completed project will look like at night.

The interstate will be widened there and at other spots, widening to 14 lanes at the Ocmulgee River, close to where I-16 and I-75 merge.

It's not clear when construction will begin, and the project's cost of more than $300 million may cause it to be broken up into phases

That's actually a picture of the current interstate system at night. I hope they hurry up with this interstate expansion, I'm tired of the poorly designed exchange currently in place. Sounds like some progress is being made, however.

The new spaghetti junction design will end up killing downtown. To get to the exits into downtown Macon you will have to exit about 2 mile before the river or end up in Dublin. Not to mention the 8 to 12 years the construction will be occuring in the area because GDOT has no money.

Well really thats how it is now there is only 2 exits passing through DT and if you missed them you can only get off about 4 miles down on the Ocmulgee east exit... I think this interchange project is great for Macon and will contribute to various enhancements to DT .....It time for modernization in Macon and need this project coup with growth and more potential growth.
