Most of Georgia's 200,000 American alligators can be found south of the Fall Line, which runs roughly from Columbus through Macon to Augusta. I can honestly say I've lived here 27 years, and have never seen an alligator in the wild. Anything is possible in Macon, GA, however, but you will probably need to head to a zoo or reserve to see any type of alligator. Please get ready, though, for every type of bug, snake, and other small critters known to man, for they are abundant.

I saw an alligator in a small pond slightly north of Macon several years ago. Almost for certain they are around.

Your not likely to see in Gators in Macon. It's a little far north for the American Alligator. BUT I wouldn't go walking through any swamp areas snakes are right at home in Macon :0) Take care!

I do not spend a lot of time in Macon, but I have seen plenty of Alligators in the wild within 50 miles of there. Ocmulgee Public Fishing Area has a couple, as does Dodge County Public Fishing Area. I have seen a few rather large gators on Lake Blackshear also.

I have seen them in the Bond Swamp National Wildlife Refuge on the south side of Macon. Other than treking through the swamps around Macon, I doubt you will ever see one.

Not true - I've seen them as far north as Arkansas, which is considerably colder than Georgia

Oh this is great, I truly believe i saw a baby alligator no longer than a pencil in the Macon Mall Macy's Entrance which is located right next to a huge drainage opening which leads to rocky creek which is at the most 70 yards away. My sister swears it was a lizard but it was a baby gator, it was crazy, I should have had my camera!
