Need help!: Parkside Apartments on Luann Lane (Madison: apartment complex, crime)

Hey everyone,

I'm attempting to move to Madison soon and my apartment search has narrowed to a few choices. One place that stands out is the Parkside Apartments, located on Luann Lane (just south of the beltline and just west of Fish Hatchery Road).

The apartment complex itself seems nice and has everything we need, but I keep reading online that the area isn't nice/may be unsafe. I tried checking crime maps and didn't see too much bad stuff going on around there, and I looked on Google street view and it looks relatively nice and safe. Mainly other apartments around and some business offices. But still, everywhere else I read that it's not a good place to live (the area, I mean).

Has anyone lived in this part of town or knows personally of how it is there? We're really interested in moving there, but safety is the main issue now.

Luann Lane itself is probably OK. However, it is right on the northern edge of the area that has seen more crime, which would be along Post, Pike and Traceway, etc.
