Default Charter vs. TDS which one to pick! Please Advice

Hi All,
So it has been 3+ days in Madison, and I am in the process of getting a TV/Internet solution for home. The only two options that I have heard of is
1) Charter
2) TDS

Both seem expensive and I am not sure which one is better.
I am not crazy for their bundle offers as I do not require a phone line.
Anyhoo, if anyone can suggest me a better solution for TV/Internet solution for home that will be much appreciated (my budget is for $60 per month -- nothing too fancy on TV but good speed on Internet).

Ciao

Everyone paints Charter as the evil empire, but I've had good service by them. Sometimes you get what you pay for. I would not sign up for DSL which is, I believe, all TDS has available.

DirecTv for T.V. Charter sucks. TDS for DSL.

We've had TDS for 8 years and never had a problem. We have dish network for TV which is dirt cheap and we've never had a problem with it. If you bundle you get a discount. If you call TDS they are very helpful. At times I've called to check on a bill or some other small issue and they've actually suggested something that reduced our bill. Really cannot recommend them highly enough!

You can buy an antenna and get 12 local channels. Nice way to save money if you don't need lots of channels.

Charter has terrible customer service and is very highly priced. Their cable is ok, internet pretty fast, and I have never had a problem with any of their services. The only issue I have is when I have to call them to talk about my bill, this always takes a long time and they give you the run-around. Moderator cut: deleted I made it through my contract period and then left them. Dish Network is pretty good, but DSL is a bit slower than cable internet, so there are tradeoffs between TDS and Charter, and neither option perfect.

I'd really like to try the AT&T Uverse service but it's not available in Middleton. At least in my area.

I have a phone line and DSL through AT&T. It's nearly $60/mo for both. I just use an antenna to watch the local TV channels in HD. At some point I will shake things up, but I do not want a $100+ bundle either. Reliable internet is my priority, and overall AT&T DSL still delivers on that front.

Harpoon: your experience is shared by my household and many, many others. Moderator cut: deleted So I'm agreeing with you.
