Default Best Apartments

I may be relocating to Madison and wanted to know what some of the best apartment/condo buildings were. I'm ideally looking for something fairly new, modern, and cool. I'll be renting and will look at both studios and 1BR. Price isn't really a big issue at this point. I'd like to be someplace where I can walk to bars, shops, etc. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

You'll want to live downtown near the capitol. Depending on how old you are you may want to check to see what percentage of students live in whatever building you choose. Because the capitol is so close to the University there is a good chance you are going to be in or close to student housing. But that's also where shops, bars etc are.
Here's one possibility.
Madison, WI Apartments and Houses for Rent, Local Apartment and Home Rentals, House, Townhome, and Condo Rentals, Vacation Rentals, Roommate and Sublet Classifieds :: Property Details for "Brand new 1bedroom w/cable&Internet included"
If you can, try to visit Madison before moving.
There are other areas-like Hilldale where you can find nice apartments close to shopping and bars, but it's an older demographic.
You can go far east or far west and find some nice new apartments with swimming pools and workout facilities, but you'll have to drive to shop and bar hop.

If you want to be reasonably close to the capitol I would check out,
www.uli.com/Residential_TobaccoRow.aspx or www.kennedypoint.com

If you want to be just outside of the University area then Weston Place (www.westonplacecondominiums.com) is very new, but a little on the pricier side

Butler Plaza and other buildings owned by the same owner would fit your bill. Most are located on the east side of the capital so fewer students there.

Anywhere near the capitol building is going to have easy access to bars and restaurants. Most students don't live that far east of campus, and I know quite a few young professionals and families who live over there. Decent options there as far as condos go, I'm not sure about apartments.
