I moved here from the Gulf Coast...and honestly I have never lived in an area that has sooooo many adopted children! It's really beautiful. From my perspective, it feels like every other couple has a child of another ethnicity.

I don't know why people seem so fixated upon race even to the point of buying babies, but they are out there. Sort of funny, like buying a car, "I want a red one".

Jokes aside, what you witnessed is a wonderful reason why women shouldn't be allowed to kill their not yet born baby. We have three adopted people in my family and abortion and choosing the race of your purchased child seems to ring of the eugenics movement that planned parenthood (sanger), hitler and others were so fond of.

Just another POV.

You see like another poster pointed out they practically fall all over themselves to tell you how non-white they are even though their diversity even in the city of madison is not that much. I like how people seem to rip on Wisconsin people for never having been anywhere else outside their state but I am starting to think of people from madison have never been outside of madison if they think their suburbs and city is so diverse or non-white or not that white as if it's a bad thing. Since you cannot live in a white community without being what a racist or living in the 50's or have experiences with other people that are not white.

Madison is a leftist haven, so you're thought process is quite valid.
Leftists are really isolated and insulated from the real world most people live in. They are in little enclaves and their exposure to the world outside of it is also filtered, so they only get their information from same thought sources, go to same thought places, only have same thought 'friends' etc.

This is why the left is little more than an echo chamber of themselves.

Just saw on news 15 in their "stranger danger" segment that two black men tried to snag a girl off the street in middleton and toss her in a van, but couldn't get the door open. So I guess there is diversity there too.

i highly doubt that your son would encounter prejudice in middleton. although middleton itself is not particularly diverse, the madison area is rapidly diversifying and, in general, very accepting of other races and lifestyles.

in all honesty, if this is your major concern about moving to middleton, i would rest easy, as i don't think it would be a problem.

I can't say how you will do in Middleton, but I do hope for the best. I understand your asking this question because I have been the person who was "different".

Some off-topic posts above were deleted. You're in a local forum. This is a relocation thread. In a relocation thread, it's more important to be helpful to the question asked by the OP than to hijack the thread with a tangent and have a rollicking little side conversation that isn't local at all.

The place at City-Data to discuss race in America is called Politics and Other Controversies. Do feel free to post in it for discussion of national issues.

Keep posts in this thread in Middleton to keep it on topic.
