Hi, I am a new member to the forum and I was just wondering what people thought of the area at 2925 Fish Hatchery Road, Madison, WI, 53713? Does anyone know anything about the apartment in general? Is it a bad area to live in? I am a college student and am looking for a place to live next fall and Valley View is in my price range. Thanks in advance.

Unfortunately, not a great complex. I was a pet sitter for a number of years and one of my clients lived there. I had to endure heckling/cat calls from several of the male tenants who apparently didn't have jobs as they were there everyday, no matter when I arrived, and the buildings are not that well kept up.

You really want to avoid that area. Plus as a college student it'd be better for you to be closer to campus. Try some of the places near East Johnson St for slightly off campus apartments that aren't quite as expensive as right along State Street

Thanks for the replies. I kind of want to avoid the downtown area. I am an Edgewood College student and the downtown scene isn't for me. Does anyone know of a different location where the rent is around 700?

You may want to look at complexes on the west side. Around Tree Lane off Mineral Point road, I believe there are some apartments around 700. I believe they're off Oakbridge Ct? Good luck in your search. I spent a few months looking at apartments and finally found a place off Greenway Blvd, however I pay 995 for a 1 bedroom.

On the near west side, look on Sheboygan Ave, just west of Hilldale Mall. Should be studios / efficiencies for less than $700 and some one-bedrooms that start in the $750 range. Edgewood students get a "free" bus pass, and although the general bus service on Sheboygan Ave is fantastic, you would need to transfer to get to Edgewood.

Ya that is another region I was looking at. I was thinking about looking at Hilldale Towers.
