I'm going to be moving to Madison in December. My work is letting me transfer to a new location in Beaver Dam. After spending some time in Madison in July, I've decided to move to Madison and make the commute to Beaver Dam. So what would be a good neighborhood for me. I will be renting an apartment (or maybe finding a roommate.) I really liked the Williamson St. area. Any other areas you would recommend?

ON WISCONSIN!

I live in Madison and there are a lot of wonderful things about it. I am guessing that you are fairly young????? I am assuming that because you mentioned that you are interested in the Willie Street area and that is usually appealing to younger members of our community. If that is true, then you have probably picked a good area in which to live and rent an apartment. HOWEVER, there are some things you need to consider. 1. Beaver Dam is a MUCH cheaper place to live than Madison. 2. Making that hour each way commute in the winter is not a always fun.

I figured that Beaver Dam is a cheaper place to live than Madison. I currently live near Lansing, MI and commute to a small town about an hour south 4 days a week. The town I work in is cheaper than Lansing. Even though it is more expensive, I prefer the larger cities. I like having everything I need (shopping, restaurants, etc.) close by.

Also, one of the things that I considered is the drive between Madison and Beaver Dam. I made the drive, and it only took me 35 min. (No, I wasn't speeding!) And I don't mind making the long drive in the winter...I've done it before!
