Does anyone have any insight into this? Ever since I was a child I remember seeing flocks of Seagulls yearound in the parking lots around the West Towne Mall area. How did these seagulls get here, how have they survied and are they unique to this area? I have only seen seagulls in coastal areas, except for the Madison colony. And they still seem to be surviving and thriving, and particularly in this area ( or are they in fact all over the area?)

I have a friend who could tell you exactly what kind of birds they are, but apparently they aren't really sea gulls. They are some other kind tern. (I made the mistake of referring to them as sea gulls in her presence.)

Edited to add...
I just read on Wikipedia that they only eat fish. Not sure where that huge population of birds finds enough to eat around the West Towne area. A mystery, indeed.
