I'll be back home for Christmas and I can promise you that my first meal will be a Kopps burger with fries and a root beer float! It's a given that I'll gain at least 10 pounds in that week that I'm home.

Ahhh....good stuff. Another highly underrated treat at Kopps - a grilled cheese sandwich (w/ tomato slice if you like tomato). Gosh, I might have to stop at Kopps on my way home!

Oh, hell no. You're going to go there. We all know that once we start comparing Kopp's, Leon's, et al, things could get ugly real fast.

"What's your preferred custard provider" is an emotionally charged question with a lot of layers and nuances. Asking Milwaukeeans to argue for their favorite custard stand is like asking people to argue for their favorite religion.

I see you created a seperate thread on this topic, and I'll see you over there soon to argue my case for the Best Custard.

Bring it on.

Here is the problem...not everyone from Wisconsin lives in the Milwaukee area. I am from Eau Claire where we don't have those places. We had a little place called Nelson's Cheese Factory and it served either ice cream or custard but not burgers....

This is true (not everyone lives in the Milwaukee area and Milwaukee boasts the highest quantity of superb frozen custard stands) although many other towns around Wisconsin do have their own tremendous local custard stands too (places like Appleton, etc.).

But yes, in lieu of any other custard stand options, Culver's is a good option.

I'm a North Shore boy, so I gotta represent with Kopps. However, I am glad that my fellow Milwaukeeans are representing the local custard stands instead of hyping the Culver's chain (even though Culver's is still great).

EP,

I am almost drooling over my keyboard talking about Kopps. There's no scent as pleasant as a bag with a greasy bottom, filled with a Kopps burger and fries. I gotta try the grilled cheese...sounds great!

I hear ya, I hear ya!

I actually broke down and went to Kopps last night (I live in Greendale and the one on Layton is only a few minutes from my house) for dessert...purchased one pint of pecan praline pumpkin pie and one pint of chocolate chip cookie dough...both were absolutely phenomenal.

I have never heard of Kopps in Milwaukee but you all made me want to try it. Do they have a website??

Wow this Chick Fil A thread really took on a life of its own. It's funny the things that can motivate people to get a good discussion going LOL.
