You will find less selection in Verona itself, it is a smaller town. Look at the far west side of Madison (within ten minutes of Verona) unless you want a more urban environment. High Point Rd area would have more of what you are looking for.

Agree here. Also OP, if the position is with Epic, they should have a board where you can find a roommate. Also ask their HR department for suggestions on places to live. The Westside rental market is rather tight due in large part to Epic, so do not despair. You'll find something!

OP, do you have transportation, or will you need public trans (ie Madison Metro for bus service)? That could determine where you'd want to look for housing as well.
I too agree with GS on the High Point rd area; also keeps you close to shopping/eating needs as well. Not sure if you are familiar with Madison or close enough to head into town to spend a day looking around but sometimes just driving by a place you could see a 'for rent' sign on a duplex/apt not in the usual ad sites.

GS, i see you're down south a bit now. We'd always stay in Louisville each time during our trips back and forth SC to WI, actually wish we'd spend more than a travel night there as it's downtown seems to really be an interesting place to visit.

Yes, I am down in the Louisville region as I have to go where the opportunities are within my career field in Geographic Information Systems. I lived here previously so I am familiar with the area, lots of interesting activities, restaurants, culture etc.

Have you even tried craigslist? Search either 'verona' or try searching 'west madison' or 'fitchburg'. Both are near Verona.
