Our lease is ending in the summer, we are currently living in Prairie du Sac, and husband commutes to Spring Green for work. Thoughts on Dodgeville and their school district? We go up to Madison a lot during the weekends. We have a 4th grader and almost Kindergartener. I apologize if I'm being vague, we've been having a difficult time deciding where to move, between Cross Plains, Dodgeville, or staying in Prairie du sac.

Are you planning to rent or to purchase? What other factors attract you to the above communities?

Other than Cross Plains, which shares an excellent school district with Middleton, I cannot comment on schools in these communities as my children attend Madison schools.

Have you considered living in Spring Green itself to eliminate the daily commute? It's a fairly easy weekend drive to Madison from any of the communities you listed, including SG.

Cross Plains has a great school district and good proximity to Middleton and Madison for more shopping and activities. However, your money may not go as far there as it would farther out.

If I may ask, are you unhappy where you live now? As you already have one child in school, has that been a positive or negative experience?

The road from Dodgeville to Spring Green can get iffy in winter. They closed the road down entirely 2-3 times last winter. Last winter was strange though with lots of ice, so closing it down that much is rare.

I'm not familiar with Sauk Prairie schools, but schools are good in Dodgeville & very good in Cross Plains/Middleton.
