Hi OP, just some random basic starting points.

For some general info in homes and taxes here you can try a site like Zillow, for homes in Madison and its burbs. That can give some comparions to what you have now.
The home market has slowed a bit but in some areas pricing can still be competitive if not over valued.

There are good school districts in and out of the city, if in Madison proper the actual home location could determine schools to go to if not commuting kids to other locations.

I cant speak for a specific job market, would assume recruiters and agencies may have some detail and possibly some Cd members would as well.

Again the above isnt meant for a lot of specific data as it can vary widely. And it would help once you may have a better idea on where you could be working, parts of the city to recommend (or what burbs) and so on to consider

Are you living the Chicago suburbs now? IMO, Middleton-Cross Plains will be more comparable to the better N/NW/W suburban districts. Madison proper schools will vary. My preference (having lived there) would be west side schools. East side not what it used to be IMNSHO.

Madison? Unfortunately, No Polish community like Chicago has- the Poles in Milwaukee are primarily several generations in already.
