Existing Veridian Homes - Opinions?
Hello!
Everyone is such a big help here. I've done a lot of reading as we narrow the community we'll be relocating to around Madison. We're considering an existing Veridian home, so we wouldn't be going through the building process with them. Does anyone have any information regarding the quality of their houses? Any concerns? Anything positive? I'll be interesed in reading the thread about Oregon/Verona builders regarding Kegonsa as well.
Thank You!

I just posted this in response to another thread so I'll just cut and paste:
DON'T buy a Veridian home! They are at least one of the developers for Grand View Commons. The two worst builders in the county, Don Simon and Midland, combined to form Veridian. Two wrongs don't ever make a right. They cut corners big time and are known for their sloppy construction.

I'm sorry I'd have to agree with Megan. I've worked for a Electrical Company that serviced Veridian and the guys would always tell me the houses may look nice but there not very well finished.
I'd go with maybe Hart DeNoble? Or you can try BrookStone Homes they have some nice homes in some nice subdivisions.

Eeeek! I'm glad I asked. Thank you for the responses. We have viewed a couple...and did wonder. They do look nice on the outside, but it's unfortunate that the quality isn't there.

Hi!
I know of some shady business with Kegnosa as well. I have heard they use the cast off's from others, not top quality. I am relocating as well, and been through the long process...and have happily chosen Oregon. The Bergamont, specifically, and have heard wonderful things about it from locals of the area. I have also been told to stay away from Veridian. There are some other builders in Bergamont that have great reps...Classic is one of them.
Good luck!

Thanks for your input also noniwilli. Relocating will be tough enough, but then to end up in a dud of a house would really be difficult & disappointing.
Good luck to you as well - hope you have a smooth transition!

I'll add that I have first hand experience as I own a home built by them. All of my neighbors have horror stories of sidewalks and driveways put in without proper support, serious structural problems, nail heads "popping" through dry wall, poor insulation, windows improperly installed, leaky basements that were supposed to be sealed but later it was discovered they weren't.

Megan1967- Interesting you should add about the concrete work. We noticed in one Veridian area that the front concrete porches were "sinking" as well as the sidewalks leading up to them.
We're sorry you and your neighbors have had a bad experience, but glad you and others are on these forums to share your information.
Here's hoping that you have no more issues with your house!

We own a 2 year old Veridian home in Verona and we love it. Have have not had any of those issue. We also have great neighbors. There is no perfefect builder and that all try to cut cornors some. The Bergamount subdivision that was mentioned earlier is having tons of finical problems . the grading was not done right homes are flooding in the neighborhood and outside the neighborhood. Looks like they tried to get away with cutting cornors .That is also a neighborhood of million dollar homes... hum!

I have lived in what I refer to as a "re-sale" Veridian home since 2003. I also want to let you know that I am a Realtor by profession. I like to tell people just so they dont think I was trying to hide something. Anyways I have sold many Veridian homes to friends and business assoicates and certainly could chat off line with you. My personal contact email is suestarktravels@gmail.com or you can call me at 608-354-8107.
