Well, I am thinking about it. I was invited.

"With appreciation for your continued leadership as a generous Bascom Hill Society member, Chancellor Blank and Wisconsin Foundation and Alumni Association president and CEO Mike Knetter invite you and a guest to a complimentary, pregame tailgate. You are a valued friend of the UW. This event is the perfect opportunity to celebrate your dedication and ongoing support of the university, so please mark your calendar.

Wisconsin vs. Iowa....."

Are you invited to the whole game, or just the tailgate? I wouldn't make the journey just for that, no matter how much money I've donated. The whole game, OTOH, could be worth it. Go Badgers!

Empidonax, I think we both agree the OP should feel free to come to Madison and see for THEMSELVES that it would NOT necessitate carrying a gun!

And give them an opportunity to add Madison as a town they have visited AND erase any negative hype about it FIRST-HAND!

....

Now, more important: When are we going to have another glass, at Groppi's??? And we need to invite our city-data.com colleagues for another "meeting of the good minds"

It is the capitol. Black hole for all the money in the state. Gov jobs, infrastructure, and payroll. The UW helps, also a gov. unit.

No one. But who in their right mind thinks they need to carry a weapon for something that happens when they aren't there? Thats literally, insane.

The car break ins in the cities I've lived in and live in are overwhelmingly unlocked cars. Locking car is going to prevent a car break in far far far more than carrying a gun someplace other than where your car is.

Do it! Even if you wind up not liking Madison, you'll have a good visit with UW.

Yep. Madison may have changed, but it's still very much a gem.

Please note I did live there for about 8 years. Visited a lot when working in Chicago too with season football tix. Less from Seattle but still once a year at least.

How long has it been since your last visit? If you go, it would be good to hear how it went.
